📌 Selling or Replacing Your Phone? Don’t Forget to Remove Your Accounts!

If you’re selling, replacing, or giving away your old phone, simply deleting data isn’t enough. Your personal information could still be at risk if you don’t remove your accounts properly. Here’s how to securely delete your accounts without leaving any trace.

🔹 1. Log Out from All Accounts

Before deleting any data, manually sign out from all important accounts:

Google Account (Android) / Apple ID (iPhone)
Email Accounts (Gmail, Outlook, etc.)
Financial Apps & Digital Wallets
Social Media Accounts (WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, etc.)

🔹 2. Remove Google & Apple Accounts from Your Device

Just logging out isn’t enough! You must manually remove your accounts to prevent them from staying linked to the phone:

On Android: Go to Settings > Accounts > Select Account > Remove Account
On iPhone: Go to Settings > [Your Name] > Sign Out

🔹 3. Disable ‘Find My Device’ Feature

Find My Device is a great security feature, but it could block the new owner from using the phone:

On Android: Go to Settings > Google > Find My Device > Disable
On iPhone: Go to Settings > iCloud > Find My iPhone > Disable

🔹 4. Manually Erase Sensitive App Data

Some apps don’t automatically delete their data even after being uninstalled! Make sure to delete sensitive data from:

Banking & Payment Apps
Password Manager Apps
Cloud Storage Apps (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, etc.)

🔹 5. Check & Remove Connected Devices

Ensure that old devices are disconnected from your online accounts:

Google: Check & remove devices
Apple: Manage your Apple ID devices
Facebook: Go to Settings > Security > Logged-in Devices

🔹 6. Factory Reset Your Phone

After following all the previous steps, wipe your phone completely:

On Android: Go to Settings > System > Reset > Erase All Data
On iPhone: Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings

🔒 Conclusion

🚀 Deleting accounts from your old phone is NOT optional—it’s necessary!
🚀 Follow these steps to protect your privacy and ensure your data isn’t accessible to the next owner.
